Umbanda is a Brazilian religion based upon the notion of possession by the spirits, blending African religions with Catholicism, Spiritism, and indigenous lore. The connection to the music, other people, and the Earth itself plays a major part in their rituals.

I had the privilege of attending one of their Halloween parties/rituals and feeling that folk’s warmth, joy, and love, and did my best to synthesize it in a short video and a photoshoot.
