A CHRISTMAS CAROL WITH ZOMBIES
personal project
2013
Christmas Carol was created as my Graphic Design college’s undergraduate thesis.
Design: It was a project that involved working on all of the course’s main subjects, such as branding, package design, printing, user interface, illustration, and game design. The game never became fully playable.
The level design was intended to separate exploration when inside houses and high-speed action when outside, evading the zombies.
Art & Animation: With a very limited color palette, the game is entirely in grayscale, and only some details from the main characters (hair and eyes) are colored, as well as red. Red was meant to play an important role in displaying threats through blood and key items.
The game menus, icons, and printable content were created in Adobe Illustrator, while the characters were created in Paint Tool SAI, and then traced and painted in Illustrator. The backgrounds were sketched, created in 3D using Autodesk 3ds max, and then filtered and drawn over in Photoshop for a more authentic art style.
Collaborators:
Tiago Candido (3D / background art)
Bruno Moreira (Graphic design)
